“Niger” (pronounced “n-jer”) is a country in West Africa. The name is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable, and the “g” is silent. The country was named after the Niger River, which flows through it.
Niger is a landlocked country, bordered by Libya to the north, Chad to the east, Nigeria and Benin to the south, and Burkina Faso and Mali to the west.
